There are also different types of mesh size which will determine the outcome and look of the finished design on the material. There are special-use mesh materials of nylon and stainless steel available to the screen-printer. The most popular mesh in general use is made of polyester. Currently, synthetic threads are commonly used in the screen printing process. Traditionally, silk was used in the process. One colour is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multi-coloured image or design. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. The resulting ICC profile can be used as profile for the silkscreen PMM.Screen printing (traditionally called silkscreen printing also known as serigraphy and serigraph printing) is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink (or dye) onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. To make custom profiles for embedding at this stage choose the “Create Reference Profile” wizard from the Calibrator its Tools menu and follow the wizard. As long as the channels used in the ICC profile are available in the set of channels defined during the linearisation. At this point an industry normalisation profile from FOGRA or GRACol or a custom profile can be chosen. Using the + and – buttons more ink channels (and thus linearisations) can be added/removed. When a channel in the job is present with the name specified here those halftone settings are copied. The inks are presets for later jobs to be send to the printer. The process starts by assuming an CMYK as ink set. Linearisation of silkscreen presses differs from linearising other digital presses. Please note that the printer/queue selection selection page will be skipped when a printer is selected already in the main window it’s printer filter. The Silkscreen calibration wizard is invoked when creating a new VISU PMM and when in the printer/queue selection page a Silkscreen printing queue has been selected. PrintFactory 6.3.2 or higher is needed.
